1♣ – (1♦) – x 4 cards in both majors 6+

With just one major, bid it.
With a 5-card major, bid it.
1♣ – (1♥) – x 4-card spades 6+

With 5+ cards, bid 1♠.
Does not show diamonds.
The intervention allows us to distinguish between a 4-card and a 5-card suit.
