Singleton Club – Hands

When we look at the hands we see partner had a 4-4-4-1 hand. By opening 1♥ they ended up misleading us about their length in a major suit.

If they had opened 1♦ that would not have happened. Misleading us about the length of a minor suit would not have prevented us reaching 3NT.

Note that West cannot rebid 2NT, because that shows 15-16 pts. The rebid problem with 4-4-4-1 hands is less acute when you have 15+ points and a minor-suit singleton, because you can bid no-trumps if partner bids your singleton.
