Gaining more than a single trick

We started with five losers: two each in the red suits and a club. We could take advantage of the ruff-and-discard to gain a trick by discarding a heart, and the straightforward way is to gain immediately by ruffing in dummy and discarding from hand.

However, we could also discard a club from hand and that not only gains an immediate trick, but allows us to set the clubs up for further discards. If the clubs are 3-2, then we would need two ruffs, meaning three entries. That looks okay – after ruffing in dummy and discarding a club, play ♣A and then ruff one. Cross to dummy with a trump and ruff out the remaining club. Draw trumps, cross to ♥A and discard the losing hearts on the winning clubs. Opponents' mistake has cost them three tricks.
